We traveled to Holland for the tulips, Germany for the Spezi (Spezialradmesse) show in Germersheim, and Austria for a visit (with some cycling in the wine district) with family. The photos feature some gorgeous scenery and some interesting bikes.

The Minnesota HPV Association's big annual event is the Ice Bike World Championship, named back when nobody else was running ice bike races at all. This is not the ice bike race (the [url=http://www.morcmtb.org/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=519]Chilly Chili[/url]) mentioned in the [url=http://travel.nytimes.com/2007/02/02/travel/escapes/02adventurer.html?8dpc]New York Times[/url]; that one took place on January 28 in the south metro suburb of Bloomington and involved mountain bikes with studded tires. This was home-builders' and HPV-owners' event that was won this year by a kid who may not have been born yet when the race was first run 16 years ago.

July 4, 2006. Dale had to work, so we had only one Cab-Bike in the Edina Independence Day Parade. [url=http://www.edinabike.com]Edina Bike and Sport[/url] hosts a cycling entry in this family-oriented event in an inner-ring suburb of Minneapolis.

The EIEIO (Eastern Iowa Environmental Innovators Organization) Human-Powered Vehicle Festival returned in 2006 with a variety of HPV's and two velomobiles.

We had been wanting to visit Dale's family in Austria and the tulip fields in the Netherlands. When the Cycle Vision bike races moved from June to May we decided to do both.

[url=http://www.calhouncycle.com]Calhoun Cycle[/url] in Minneapolis sponsors an annual recumbent ride that is now in its sixth year. This had to be the hottest one yet, and only about 50 riders turned out.

The Edina, Minnesota Independence Day Parade had a large human-powered contingent -- and some horses and a donkey. From late 1800's high-wheelers to velomobiles, a wide range of HPV's showed up for the parade.
