Album: Ice Bike Races, Saturday, January 27, 2007
The Minnesota HPV Association's big annual event is the Ice Bike World Championship, named back when nobody else was running ice bike races at all. For more photos of MNHPVA members and their ice-bikes, see the Ice Bike album in the MNHPVA activity section of the Gallery. There's also an 8-minute movie on YouTube, and a couple of shorter film clips here (the Gossamer Walrus) and here (Ray Brick). This is not the ice bike race (the Chilly Chili) mentioned in the New York Times; that one took place on January 28 in the south metro suburb of Bloomington and involved mountain bikes with studded tires. This was home-builders' and HPV-owners' event that was won this year by a kid who may not have been born yet when the race was first run 16 years ago.
