Velomobiling Guide

The Velomobiling site Gallery features Velomobile Albums including Aerorider, Alligt Alleweder, Aurora, Berkut, Birk Butterfly, Cab-Bike, C-Alleweder, Flevo Alleweder (FAW), Go-one, Leiba, Leitra, Limit, Mango, Quest, Sunrider, Versatile, and WAW, with a miscellaneous album for limited-edition and home-built velomobiles, including La Fleche. "Building a Velomobile" showcases velomobile construction projects. Velomobile Circus celebrates wild and colorful velomobile designs.

The quick velomobile overview page is up again in English en in het nederlands.

They're still incomplete, but the Velomobile Comparison Tables are far enough along to mention here.

We've assembled some links to 2-person velomobiles, 2-wheel velomobiles, tandem recumbents, side-by-side and back-to-back tandem bikes and trikes. Whether you want two-person, two-wheel, multi-rider, or some other variation on the human-powered vehicle, we've tried to include it.

From any page on the site, just click the header photo of the velomobile in the tulips to return to the home page. On the "book" pages, it looks like this:

The original Velomobiling.net site will be closed down and merged with this site some time in 2007. (If that link brings you back here, it's already happened). We are creating archives of the articles and "blocks." Velomobile information, articles, event announcements, and links related to human-powered vehicles will be appearing on this Drupal version of the velomobiling site.

Cycling isn't just for the young and fit. Bikes and trikes allow people in many stages of life and with a wide variety of disabilities move around on their own or with some assistance. This page and its links are under construction.

Cycling Through Life The Dutch charitable foundation, Ik Wil Fietsen ("I want to bike" or "I want cycling") expresses what we feel about cycling -- it should be for everyone. From infancy to old age, with and without disabilities, alone or together, for practical transportation or pleasure, we all want to bike!
Starting Young Where do you start? A child's trike? Cycling started in the early 1800's with the pedal-less draisienne or hobbyhorse, and that's a great way to introduce a child to bicycling skills. It's better than training wheels. Some also start with recumbent trikes and bikes for kids.
Family bikes, and trailers Even before they can pedal by themselves, kids can ride along in trailers, on child seats, or in the boxes of European family bikes.
Going places, travel gear Around the world, across a continent, or just along a country road....you can get places on a bike.
Commuting by bike What keeps people from biking to work? Weather, inadequate bike routes, no place to park, inability to carry things. We try to find solutions.
Practical cycling, workbikes It's amazing what you can carry on a human-powered vehicle.
Biking comfortably A comfortable cyclist can keep going longer. Bikes that reduce stress on backs, necks, wrists, and shoulders are gaining in popularity. Recumbent bikes and comfort bikes help older or arthritic people keep on biking, and let everyone bike further.
Adapted bikes and trikes Bicycles and tricycles can be adapted to the needs of people with disabilities. Blindness, poor balance or coordination, paraplegia, hemiplegia, amputations, and artificial joints are some of the handicaps that can be addressed with the right bike.
Power assist What if your legs are too weak, or your load is too heavy, or your hills are too high? A power-assisted bike, trike, or velomobile lets you pedal as much as you can and still get to where you are going.
Bikes for sport Going fast, riding far, competing in a variety of ways, bikes rule!!
Bicycle machines Pedal power can grind wheat, pump water, and power lights for reading.
Goofing off on wheels When you want to have fun, what's better than a set of wheels?
Pedaling on water If it's a good way to get around on land, maybe it's good on water, too.
